Faculty Travel Program

The SOAR Undergraduate Program is offering travel funds for faculty as part of our commitment to provide students with effective, relevant, and engaging instruction. Professional development opportunities are a priority to ensure the success of students and their ability to transition into their perspective fields.

Who can apply?

  • Full-Time Undergraduate Faculty in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematic fields.

Faculty Travel Overview:

Upon award of travel funds, awardee will submit Travel Authorization Request via Concur through their department. All travel arrangements will be completed within faculty members’ department. Awardees agree to submit their Travel Expense Report and copies of all receipts to Leslee Schauer, SOAR Director, in Glasscock room 151C.

Faculty member must submit a post-conference write up, presentation materials, and provide a video testimonial within thirty days from travel return date. Failure to comply will disqualify faculty member from any further travel funding.

Faculty Application Submission:

Faculty member must submit a complete travel request packet that includes:

  • Completed Faculty Travel Request with all signatures
  • Event agenda
  • If presenting:
    • Copy of abstract
    • Abstract acceptance letter
    • Copy of presentation
    • Submit completed request and all supplemental documentation to GSSC 151C or via email to leslee.schauer@tamucc.edu

Faculty Travel Limitations

  • SOAR Travel funding is contingent on availability of funds.
  • Faculty member may not attend the same conference more than once.
  • Faculty member may be approved for a maximum of one travel award per calendar year.
    • SURE Mentor Faculty may be approved for a maximum of one additional travel award per calendar year.
